I am Rhonda Taylor Marsh
I paint abstract art with acrylics.
Not feeling qualified to portray the literal, I seek to communicate a concept, feeling, or metaphor through color, scale, or texture; every piece must have words.
When my play in the paint actually captures something that is significant to me - when I imagine that the splashes and drips convey just a little what my soul wants to say - I am delighted! Astonished! Awed!
I’m a spiritual person. My lens toward the world is framed by that disposition. On any plane, and in many moments throughout time, my world is filled with metaphors of the Lord I love. For I do love Him. So if I’m dancing with a palette knife or layers of paint, I’m usually trying to convey something of Him.
I adore prose written by a poet at heart. Black dirt and planting things in it makes me giddy. The inside and outside of my house are always in metamorphosis, for design and redesign and revision of redesign have always been a greatest pleasure.
My luxury and longing are to create for my own walls - or for the spaces of those I love most.
If you are reading this bio, you are likely my husband, child, or grandchild. It is you that I hope will sense a glimpse of Moma Nanie in the art. I want you to remember me. And in remembering me you rediscover how I’ve loved you and how central God is to who I am. It is for you that I attempt to preserve hints of how I search and am filled. It is you for whom my heart soars.
I you aren’t direct descendants, I’m astonished you’d take the time to read this. Wow! Thank you. And welcome…
I am Rhonda Taylor Marsh. And I love to play in the paint!
