Some time ago I planned an object lesson for my children. I brought out my mom’s oils set and painted “Thin Gray Line”. Though this is not an absolute, I wanted them to imagine a demarcation between things of light and things of the dark. Good and evil. That which may connect with Bliss and that which could lead to doom.

When we stand on the thin gray line, we are still only a scootch from redemption. On that same line we might also be just a nudge from an abyss. And if one is not watchful, that tiny gradation fades as if it’s an illusion.
